There is a significant network of land drains on Cedar Chase. These carry surface water, runoff from the roofs, and groundwater. As Taplow is set on a line of springs the groundwater aspect is very important.
See the Plans page for detailed plans of the drainage network. We have not surveyed all of it in detail, but we do know quite a lot about it.
Land drains are maintained by the Cedar Chase Residents’ Society. We have had a number of repairs and surveys done over the years. Some of these produced videos showing the inside of the pipes:
- Land drain survey from #3 going upstream, March 2021
- Land drain survey from #3 going downstream, March 2021
- Post-repair survey from #3 going downstream, June 2021 – this was after replacing all the pipe under #3’s garden
- Land drain survey from #3 going downstream, July 2024 – note the small hole at 9.5m which probably caused the road flood in later 2023, and the blockages around 14m which held the water back to make that happen
- Land drain survey from #8 going upstream, July 2024
