The Scheme of Management

The Leasehold Reform Act 1967 gave many leaseholders the right to buy out the freehold of their property. This would have been very bad for developments like Cedar Chase as there would then be no way to enforce the rules or to collect management fees. The Act therefore provided for Schemes of Management which could give residents associations enough power to do their job. Such schemes had to be approved by the High Court so they involved a lot of legal documents. Ours was approved on 31st July 1974, and from that date the Cedar Chase Residents’ Society Ltd took over the powers that had previously been exercised by Span via SRL Investments Ltd.

The full text of the Scheme is included in the Cedar Chase Handbook.
